Kroger Trip
I haven't had a big shopping trip at Kroger in a long time, but they have a pretty decent sale this week- buy 10 participating items and get an instant $3 off (or a savings of 30 cents per item). The lunch meat wasn't part of the mega event, but it was a great deal. They are $3 each right now, I had $1/2 coupons and there is a catalina (that is a coupon that prints out when you check out) deal right now on them so I got a coupon for $4 off my next order; that made them about $1.85 each. With coupons I got the chef boyardee for about 35 cents each, the pizza for about 55 cents, the hot dogs and storage bags for $1 each, and the cereal for $1.19 each. I also had a $5/$50 coupon. So 38 items here, I paid about $34 and got a $4 coupon back, not bad for Kroger!

Catching Up
It's been a while! I would like to post about a lot of the deals I have gotten recently, but I can't seem to find the correct SD card with my pictures. At work maybe? Anyway... lets start with the most important purchase, our freezer!!!
Isn't it adorable? Its like 5 cubic feet, and of course we got it on sale. This is actually the second freezer we have purchased, the first had to go back to its homeland of Walmart. We had been thinking about buying one so we can get all of the great frozen goods deals and we decided on one from Walmart. As we were getting ready to load it up and take it home we saw this ripped up piece of paper that said something about a recall. We decided to wait and look into it more. Long story short we went back to the store and asked them to open the box so we could see the serial number to see if this particular freezer had been recalled, they said that they could scan it and if it had been recalled it would show up. I thought, "what a great idea"! They said it was fine, we bought it, dragged it home and all the way inside, oh, what's that? Serial number that matched the recall? You bet! And not just any recall- a fire hazard recall that happened 6 months ago! How do you sell me a product that is likely to catch on fire?!?! After I specifically ask you if it is included in the recall?!?!? I have written an email to Walmart expalining my outrage in a very calm reasonable manner, but have yet to hear back from them...shocking.
But back to our new awesome freezer. We ordered this one from Sear's, they shipped it to our local store in 4 business days, and we paid about $165 for it, $10 cheaper than my potential fireball from Walmart (perhaps the extra cost is because you could use it as both a freezer and a grill!). As you can see right now we are mainly using it for meat and now we have more than enough room to buy up all kinds of good deals.
Speaking of good deals, lets talk about the crazy good deal we got on these steaks. See the prices? About $16 each, what do you think we paid? $5 each!!! These are from Earthfare, and for the first time we actually used the coupon at their store instead of Publix. This is sold by the cut, and so I wasn't really sure how Publix was going to deal with that. I am so glad that we went and used the coupon at Earthfare. This is supposed to be for a bone in ribeye, however, they had run out of that by the time we got there and they were substituting boneless, hooray! We were each able to use a coupon and we got these for $10.80 with tax, amazing!
We also made a trip to the Farmer's Market today. I love tomatoes like nobody's business and today they had the best looking tomatoes ever! For your comparison on the right is a tomato we bought at Kroger for $1.99/lb, on the left is one of the 5 tomatoes I got at the market for $4 (that's total not per lb!) and yes all of the tomatoes are that big and yummy looking:)
Finally, here is our most recent Publix shopping trip. Those potatoes are actually for my mom. They were bogo $1.89 and I had $1/2 coupons, so that made them about 45 cents a box. The chex mix is actually a pretty big and with bogo sale and coupons they were about 90 cents each. We found a couple of cheaper packs of meat. Two are steak cut for fajitas, we made a pack last week and it was pretty good. The other is a pack of thin sliced pork chops, all three packs were about $2.50. We got a couple of tomatoes and also some chicken strips for salad that we made for dinner. We used a $5/$20 Earthfare coupon and we got everything for about $20!

Day of Shopping Awesomeness
This is the pack of steak we got from Publix today, note the price of $15.97.
This is all of the groceries that we got at Publix (including our steak) for $15!!! How did we do that? Earthfare coupons. I love Earthfare, I have never purchased anything from there, but it is probably my second favorite store because they have amazing coupons and my Publix accepts them as a competitor. We had a $5/$20 purchase, a 1/2 off your fillet minion purchase, and a free 5 ears of corn coupons. Then the cheese coupons that I posted about a few days ago reset so I was able to print those again, so those were 50 cents each. The starbucks drinks were a really good deal- they are normally outrageously expensive. They were on sale buy 2 get 1 free for $5.99 a pack and I had $3 in coupons, so $9 total or $3 per pack, which is great for those. The cottonelle wipes were free because of a coupon they sent me in the mail. The peanut butter was 20 cents each and the rice mixes were 30 cents each.
We also made some money today at the CVS on this Zyrtec. It was on sale for $5.99 with $5.99 in ECB back. I had a $2 off coupon so we made $2!
We made a brief stop at the Target. The strainer was in the $1 spot and I had coupons for the other stuff. We paid $3 for everything.
We also stopped at Walmart, we bought more than this but these were the only coupon deals we got. The curad is a 60 count and it was on roll back for 97 cents, I had 50 cent coupons, so they were 47 cents. The cascade packs were about 50 cents and these are good for when we run out of dish detergent. They just put out a new coupon for $2 off ribs when you buy KC masterpiece bbq sauce and I had coupons for those too. After coupons I paid 42 cents each for the sauce and about $4 each for the ribs, which I think is petty good especially since the ribs are boneless.

How can you not love almost free cheese?
I love when Publix has cheese on sale and there are awesome coupons to match it. This week cheese is on sale for $2 a bag. There are $1/1 Publix coupons for these two specific types- extra sharp cheddar and pepper jack. There was also a $1/2 manufacturer's coupon in the Winn Dixie ad for last week. Use all coupons and you wind up with bags of cheese for 50 cents each! Husband was nice enough to go purchase all of this cheese for us when he got off of work today, our cheese drawer is officially full!

I Hate Coupon Thieves
We were up and out of the door this morning by 7:30am and went right down the street to get our two regular papers out of the machines... all gone! We had to drive all the way across the city to finally find a dispenser that had any left in them. I refuse to believe that a ton of people were up and about buying papers by 7:30am. The coupons this week aren't even that great, but it is just so frustrating to me that people are so greedy and rude!
Ok enough with the ranting. There weren't a lot of great sales this week. We stopped by Kroger just to pick up some milk and eggs. Then we went to CVS. Not that I really need anymore toothbrushes, but these are the pulsar kind and I was able to pretty much get them for free- on sale for $6, had a $3 coupon, and got $3 ECB- the mouthwash was pretty much the same thing. I started with $5 in ECB, left with $5.50 in ECB and spent a little less than $2 in tax, I think that makes a pretty good deal!
This purchase didn't happen today, but about a week ago. However, "the bucket" as we so lovingly refer to it has been a great purchase! Husband has a job delivering mail, and it is Alabama and the summer so it is stupid hot and he was going through like 5 water bottles a day. Someone at work told him about this thing and it is amazing. It is huge as you can see and it is insulated with styrofoam. You can put ice in it and it won't melt for like 8 hours. It was about $10 but has been well worth it. The best part- you can take it to the Circle K and fill it up with soft drink for $1! I highly suggest:)

Cereal, Butter and Pierogies... Oh My!
You really just can't be the deals at Publix. I have been so excited about this week's deals since I saw the ad preview on Monday. These are some of the best deals we have gotten in a while. I was not planning on buying the cheerios- they were about $2 a box this week- but when I woke up this morning there was a coupon for cheerios that doubled to $1 making these boxes about $1.20 each, an amazing deal! The pierogies (if you have never had them you should try, they combine two of my favorites, potato and pasta!) were 30 cents a box after sale and coupons!!! The butter was also a great deal, it is a small tub, but they were about 25 cents each. I had a coupon on the salad, a produce coupon is rare but they do exist, so they were $1 a bag, the rest of the stuff was about $1 each, except for the tomatoes. We also got some chicken strips for salad tonight. They were a little over $6, but they were practically free because I used a $5 off your purchase coupon from earthfare.
